Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust (MRTT) is a public entity mandated to develop the human resource base of the province through the provision of experiential and practical artisan programmes, including hospitality, tourism and life skills training. The main focus is to empower individuals and communicates, primarily the youth, industry workers and government employees in disadvantaged communities to participate in the broader economic sphere of the province.
MRTT Offers the following Accredited Artisan Programmes:
Qualifications accredited by Construction Education & Training Authority (CETA)
The two largest training centres of the MRTT are situated in Witbank (Emalahleni Training Centre) and in Bronkhorstspruit (Ekandustria Training Centre). These two training centres offer 17 workshops each and every worskshop accommodates 15 learners at a time. The Kabokweni Training Centre in White River has 9 workshops while the Siyabuswa Training Centre has 8 workshops for building construction training. The workshops at the two smaller training centres also accommodate up to 15 learners each. Table 2.2 summarises the various workshops that offer experiential technical training at the four training centres.
Learners at the training centres have access to three or four class rooms at each centre where they receive theoretical instruction. The class rooms vary in size and from centre to centre, but can accommodate between 20 to 50 learners each.
The workshops are equipped with workstations, work benches, industrial equipment used in the relevant trades, tools and equipment for appropriate experiential learning, tool rooms and material store rooms. Learners are not only taught to conduct their respective trades but also to practice actual applications thereof in the various workshops.
The facilities at all four training centres are under-utilised and each campus is able to carry more learners.
